About This Site And Its Free Walks
Every walk here is pay-what-you-want, and every place listed costs nothing to enter or carries a stated condition. The roster holds 3 walks, 2 on GuruWalk and 1 on freetour.com, alongside free grounds, parks and neighborhoods. Nothing is booked through this site, and it is independent of both platforms.
How The Three Walks Differ
Each of the 3 walks sets off somewhere different: the Gaslamp Quarter Arch downtown, the University Center sign on the UC San Diego campus in La Jolla, and the Robinson Rose House in Old Town. Durations range from 1 hour and 15 minutes to 2 hours and 30 minutes. A place on any of them is reserved through GuruWalk or freetour.com, never here.
Walk Rules At A Glance
| Where ratings and review counts come from | GuruWalk and freetour.com. The Best of Historic Downtown and Waterfront walk carries 4.72 across 150 reviews on GuruWalk. The UCSD and adjacent landmarks tour on GuruWalk and the Old Town San Diego Free Tour on freetour.com have published no reviews yet, so neither shows a rating or a count. |
|---|---|
| Why no walk carries a price | All three run on tips: a reservation costs nothing, and each guide takes home whatever the walkers choose to hand over at the end. |
| How a free-entry claim earns a place | A free claim always carries the operator's own rule and its condition right beside it. Each museum, park and agency is treated under its own rule, never one shared assumption. |
How This Site Earns
No walk is run from here. Referral fees are the only revenue: a walker who reserves a free tour after following a link may earn this site a fee from GuruWalk or freetour.com. You tip the guide at the end of the walk. The disclosure page sets out the arrangement, and the FAQ answers the usual questions.
